As much as my fellow cynics rail at the commercialism and consumption of Valentine’s Day, I can’t help but love it. I still make all my valentines by hand for close friends and family, and I make sure I celebrate the day with someone I love (although not necessarily in the romantic sense). This year, I’m taking one of my favorite girls to a local diner with killer mac & cheese, and giving her a copy of Harlequin Valentine by Neil Gaiman and John Bolton (sshhh, don’t tell!). In my mind, this holiday gives me a chance to let out the more vulnerable, sentimental side of my nature, and so I find myself turning to softer textures and brighter colors. These new outfits from Anthropologie fit perfectly with my current sunny frame of mind and make me want to get something light and pretty for Thursday night.
